Here at Godfrey Ermen Primary School we have a strict NO DEBT POLICY relating to the school meal service. So school dinners must be ordered and paid for one week in advance. Therefore, all parents paying for lunches will be expected to pay to ensure that they are always £10.50 in credit. Please use the link to the Live Kitchen Portal on this page to Order School Dinners in advance. We are a cashless school so parents can pay for dinners online via School Gateway (see link on this page for details).
Failure to pay dinner money will result in your child being asked to bring in a packed lunch or they must be taken home for their dinner.
A free dinner is currently provided for every child in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
Free School Meals
If you feel you may be entitled to free school meals call at the school office for advice on how to apply. This allowance is a statutory right and is important that you use it to qualify, as the School also receives extra funding to help enrich the curriculum for your child (e.g. to subsidise trips/residential visits etc.). We will help you all we can with your application, this information is totally confidential and your child will not be identified in School. You should still apply even if your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2.
If you wish to change the arrangements for your child’s dinner e.g. from school lunch to packed lunch we need to know 2 weeks in advance.
Packed lunches need to be in a suitable container with your child’s name on it. As a Healthy School, we want to encourage children to eat nutritious food throughout the day: this means that they have the right balance of energy to support them in the activities that they do during the school day. Packed lunches should contain nutritional food i.e. a sandwich, piece of fruit, yoghurt, a cereal bar biscuit.
Sweets, chocolate bars and chewing/bubble gum are not healthy and therefore not allowed. On special occasions, children may be given sweets or chocolate at school as a treat. Godfrey Ermen is a NUT FREE school due to some children having nut allergies.
