Julia Kinch - Ex Officio Governor (Executive Headteacher)

Julia Kinch - Ex Officio Governor (Executive Headteacher)

am the Exectutive Headteacher of Godfrey Ermen and another primary school in Salford, St Philip's. I started my
teaching career at St Philips and have worked in Salford for 23 years. I have taught in church and community schools during this time - from very small schools to 2-form entry primary schools like Godfrey Ermen. I have taken on the role of Deputy Headteacher in 2 schools adn have been the substantive Headteacher of St Philip's CE since September 2017.

I started my role of Exectuve Headteacher at Godfrey Ermen in February 2022 and am looking forward to working with the staff team, the children and their families as well as with the Governors.

I share the ethos and values of Godfrey Ermen and am keen to bring my experiences to the leadership and governance of our school.

Tom Faithwaite - Parent Governor

Tom Faithwaite - Parent Governor

My daughter is currently in the Reception Class at Godfrey Ermen and I  appreciate the opportunity to join the governing body as a parent governor, lending my experience and be part of Godfrey Ermen’s success for years to come.

I am currently a Senior Consultant for a SEND recruitment agency. I have been in recruitment now for approaching 5 years. Previously, I was a primary teacher in an ‘Outstanding’ school in Manchester and a ‘Good’ school in Leeds.

Currently, I help schools in Greater Manchester with recruitment of special needs staff. This has given me an insight into an array of special educational needs and disabilities – the EHCP process, safeguarding & compliance checks and negotiation of charge rates according to budgets of different schools. There is a strong focus on business development and strategic planning.

As a primary teacher for 3 years previously, I gained firsthand experience of managing a classroom and being a multiple subject leader – I attended training, created resources and delivered CPD to staff. I have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. I successfully saw Year 2 through the first SATs following the introduction of the new national curriculum and was moderated by the Local Authority.

My ethos was always to help children develop in all aspects of their lives, not just their attainment. Seeing my daughter’s development and knowing your mission statement, it is clear to see that Godfrey Ermen’s focus is on the whole child.

Having been involved in education since 2010, I am a lifelong learner and passionate about education and helping young people; I am thrilled to have the opportunity to give something back. With my daughter attending this school, it fills me with immense pride to represent and add value by being a parent governor at Godfrey Ermen Memorial Primary School.

Cllr John Mullen - Local Authority Governor

Cllr John Mullen - Local Authority Governor

I am the local authority representee on the governors, I have served over 10 years and it has ben an honour and a privilege to do so. I have been an elected councillor for 17 years representing Barton ward and after the recent changes, Barton and Winton Ward. I hope that I can continue to help the school by the challenge to ourselves and the education teams to get the very best for our children. I myself am degree educated in computer science and I hope that where I can, use that skill to assist the children and the school.

I wanted to serve as a school governor as I believe we should all strive to raise aspirations and by doing so watch the children bloom and be all they can be.

I work closely with the other governors and as a team I can assure you we all have the singular mission of providing the best education we can give.

This year I also have the honour of being Salford’s ceremonial mayor, I hope you will follow my FaceBook blog as meet some of Salford’s amazing children and volunteers.

John Nuttall - Staff Governor

John Nuttall - Staff Governor

I am the teacher of our Year 6 Turing class and have been for the past four years. I originally worked on supply at Godfrey Ermen and became a permanent member of staff, feeling that I could see myself working here for the forseeable future! This prediction was correct as I have spent all of my full-time teaching career at Godfrey Ermen and am thankful to have met and worked with so many brilliant children, parents and staff at our school. I am the staff governor and am extremely proud that the rest of the staff felt I was able to put their views across to our governing body.
